Design Vocabulary

... is only one of many possible translations for the German word "Formensprache" - it seems that there´s no adequate English word for it.
Here´s another ATC with a Faux Leather with Masking Tape background.

Sensational News

Well, isn´t it sensational news to see that former GDR politician Walter Ulbricht was such a fan of Western German actress Hildegard Knef?
The background was made with the "Faux Leather with Masking Tape" technique which is today´s Saturday´s Workout challenge.

Kippeln auf der Klippe

I´ve made this card just for fun (and for sending someone a mail art piece of course) - but the hard part is the translation, LOL: Does tilting on the outlier make any sense for you? or wobbling on a sheer? If it doesn´t, just take the title as a bit of DADA ...

City Silhouette

This week´s Wednesday Stamper´s theme is "Silhouette" - so here´s my urban scene with a bird´s silhouette as a sign of nature in the midst of stone. I´m not much into silhouette stamps, but you can often see birds as a silhouette on a far roof or tree ...
Stamps by Stamp Francisco, Stampers Anonymous, and Flamingo.

The Letter O - another German lesson

Welcome back to my monthly German lesson! This time you´ll learn that the German "oben ohne" means "topless", and an "Oberlehrer" is someone who acts like an omniscient teacher but is not ... it´s one of those German word that don´t have an English expression - maybe you don´t know those people in other countries!?

Architecture ATCs

Six ATCs for an Architecture themed swap. You won´t be surprised to see two of them inspired by literary works: The lucky girl who gets her own room refers to Virginia Woolf´s "A Room of One´s Own", and the nest as a sign of nature in the midst of buildings was inspired by Bertolt Brecht´s play "Im Dickicht der Städte".

The Librarian

Do you love books as much as I do? I don´t think that reading has something to do with escaping reality - it´s just another perspective on reality and a chance to discover worlds I´ll never be able to see in real life (though sometimes they may be situated in your neighbour´s soul). I don´t read to escape or feel better; it´s kind of reading in another person´s mind.

Goodbye my Love

Maybe Valentine cards don´t always have to be romantic?! Think of all those people who don´t have someone to love or maybe still love someone who´s gone - with all that talking about love Valentine´s Day may be a good day for them to let go and think about their feelings. This lady has let her old love go, but looks quite injured now, so don´t trust the smile in her face.
You can go to "Sunday Postcard Art" to see more Hearts cards this week.
And as this week´s Mixed Media Monday theme is Hearts and Wings, this card is just perfect for that challenge.

Postage Stamps

This week´s theme at Crazy Amigo is Postage Stamps, so I´ve altered a Carte de Visite as an ATC.

One World One Heart - The Winners

When I posted my giveaways, I would never have thought that there would be 230 names in my bowl in the end!
And after visiting each and every of the 911 blogs participating in the OWOH event, I´m even happier that I´ve been a part of it.
I´d like to thank all those people who told me that they visit my blog regularly or that they stopped by for the first time but will come back or just that they like what they´ve seen - it´s all much appreciated, and I´m happy that I´ve met so many of you this way - thank you!
I´ve done it the traditional way: putting your names into a bowl and drawing by hand.
Now here are the three winners:
Stacy, Latharia, and Linda!
I´ll contact you immediately to ask for your snail mail addies and will send out your arches as soon as possible!

Letter N ATCs - Another German Lesson

I´ve finished my Letter N swap ATCs tonight, and you know what that means: it´s time for another German lesson!
"Null-Lösung" has been the German word of the year 1981 - does anyone remember? It meant the complete abdication of installing new weapons on both sides of the Iron Curtain. Of course I´ve used the word in its literal meaning on my ATC, saying that Zero is the solution.

The third ATC illustrates a new beginning, "Neuanfang" in German. Mostly it begins with a certain feeling that you have to change your life ...

Tag Your Arch

Here´s my arch for this week´s Gothic Arches challenge "Tag Your Arch" (if you´re not familiar with the Latin words, you can read about their history here).
