Flamingo

When I read this week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, I thought that I´d skip it as I´ve never made anything flamingo themed and pink isn´t my favourite colour.

My second thought was "hm, what about Alice", but as my Alice stamps featuring a flamingo were much too small, I had to make a digital Alice + Flamingo card. For the card below, I´ve used images from Miles Beyond the Moon and Cheryl Budden.

Then tonight, I´ve made a second flamingo card using rubber stamps from Dylusions and a few alphabet sets. Obviously the flamingo head and legs combined with a self-made collage body were a bit unbalanced, so I had found my words for this card, "Keep the Balance" - hope you´ll like its quirkyness.

Thankful

"What are you thankful for?", we´re asked for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge. The first things that came to my mind were books and bird songs, as shown in my digital card (all elements from Songbirdy).
And today, I´m really thankful for having three good friends who bake Christmas cookies with me every year - here´s yesterday´s result, eight sorts of very different cookies, made without much effort but with lots of fun:

I hope you´re having a lovely first sunday in advent, too!

Melancholy

I haven´t made a digital collage for a long time, but today I´ve been in the mood to grab the G+T kit Down to Earth and start playing again. It felt a bit strange, but I like the result.

Characters

These digital collages "Broken" above and "She" below have been made with the new Songbirdy Character Mixes One and Two - lots of great people to use in your collages!

Tableaux

My friend Beth aka Songbirdy came out with two new kits today at Mischief Circus, called "Tableau Uno" and "Tableau Deux". They´ve been made to mix and match but can also be used separately as done here in "The Gift" above and "Corona Walks" below.

Pink or Blue?

My friend Beth aka Songbirdy came out with two new image kits today called "Pretty in Pink" and "Melancholy Blue", and both are perfect to make some beautifully coloured artwork. My samples have a few other Songbirdy images that go well with the colour schemes.

Your Inner Demons

This digital collage is called "Evil Spirits", and these aren´t the raven and the snake (who look more like the lady´s company and shelter) but her own inner self. If you´ve ever been in an emotional crisis, you might know how she´s feeling - you don´t need to be mentally ill to experience moments when you really fear your own inner self.

All images used here are from Beth Todd´s new Songbirdy kit "Samhain".

The Beat Goes On!

I´ve always loved the music of the Sixties, so Beth´s aka Songbirdy´s new digital image pack called "Swinging Sixties" came in handy to enjoy one hour of English sixties music and playing with colours. Do you still remember those yellows and greens?

Faux Stitches

When Mandy asks us for new themes for her Sunday Postcard Art challenges, I´m always on the hunt for themes that offer a wide range of possibilities for artists - and that´s why I´ve picked "Faux Stitches" as this week´s challenge theme: No matter if you´re a digital artist or a stamper or you like to draw, this is your perfect theme! You don´t need a sewing machine to draw you stitches or stamp them or use a digital image of stitches.

When it comes to designs, stitches are such an interesting element: You can use them as a border, or you can emphasize a part of your card that is important, or you can "sew" different parts together like a quilt.

To give you an impression of what I´ve said before, I´ve made two samples this week, a rubberstamped card and a digital one.

(The rubber stamped card above was made with stamps from Visible Image, Autumn Leaves and Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous; the digital card below was made with elements from Valentina Pellitteri aka Valentina´s Creations and Jen Maddocks.)

Summer Fun

We´ve had such a hot day today that getting your feet into water was probably a dream we all had - and it looks like the night won´t be much cooler ...
This digital collage was made with my friend Beth´s new Songbirdy kits "Sandy Toes".

Still Life

Usually, I like to make humorous digital collages that make you smile or even laugh, but when I saw the images of Beth´s new Songbirdy kit "Anything Goes", my mind went just the other way, and I thought of recent news like companies closing because of Corona and the Black Lives Matter movement. So here´s a collage reflecting these times ...

I´m Changing

This week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge is "Mirror", and as I´m not young anymore, looking into the mirror has become a daily adventure. Sometimes you´re satisfied, and other times you may ask yourself who this person is that scares you so much, We all need to accept that we´re changing and that this does not have to be a bad thing, no matter how it looks at first sight. We all like faces that mirror our lives and experiences, don´t we? We all win or lose our personal fights, and our faces should picture our lives in my opinion.
(For this digital collage, I´ve used elements from Foxeysquirrel, Crystal Rain and Valentina´s Creations.)

Domestic Goddesses

I hate housework. Period. But I love the new Songbirdy kit "Domesticity" and made two digital collages with it, the one above with a quote from Maya Angelou, the one below with words from Virginia Woolf.
But the best thing about this kit is that it makes a perfect couple with Holliewood Studios´ kit Collage Capers v. 3 Domestic Goddess that comes with printable collage sheets. For my two moleskine journal pages I´ve transferred a background from Songbirdy with Transfer Ink, then collaged with
Hollie´s images and finished with a bit of watercolour -
much more fun than housework!

Distance

All we can do during these unhappy times is try to find something funny in all this and don´t lose our humour. While I´m trying hard doing this in my everyday life and mostly fail, I´m happy to have art and social media to find things that make me smile and maybe put a smile on other people´s faces ...
These digi collages have been made with a new Songbirdy kit from my friend Beth Todd that´s called "Candy Floss".

Hope

There isn´t much good news nowadays, but Mischief Circus' new collab "Enchanted Forest" was a little ray of light this week. This digital collage was made with Songbirdy´s part.

Dancing in the Moonlight

My friend Beth Todd came out with two lovely new Songbirdy image kits today consisting of men and women, also available as a combo at MischiefCircus.com.
I couldn´t resist to let those two have a little dance on the moonlit street (hope they don´t forget their pram when they´re finished!).
And the somehow "holy" look of the lady below led me to my collage "Aunt Mary", a strange raven lady.

Couples

I tried to ignore Valentine´s Day, but then Beth came out with a fabulous new Songbirdy kit called "Characters - Couples" that is just perfect for that occasion ... so please decide for yourself if this couple with respect any boundaries (like doors?) or follow Truman Capote´s words and take a step beyond.

Dragon Farm

Do you believe that dragons are evil? Whenever they appear in fairy tales or other stories, men have to fight against them, but I don´t remember why ...
So my digital postcard for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge changes allegiance and shows a modern form of dragon factory farming to be able to sell their tears and strength.
(Credits go to Rucola Design, itkupilli, ViVa Artistry, Holliewood Studios, Brandy Murray and Miles Beyond the Moon, hope I didn´t forget anyone ...)

Oddities

When have you been to the cinema for the last time? Do you remember, or do you prefer DVDs or streaming? In my digital collage, a movie star tries to be "up to date" by using a TV screen, but the empty room tells another story - probably her audience stayed at home, watching their favourite films and series elsewhere. Times are always a-changing ...
My second collage is self-explaining and really odd, no wonder as both collages were made with Beth Todd´s new Songbirdy kit called "Oddities", available at MischiefCircus.com. I hope that you like oddities as much as I do!

Art gave her Wings

When I made my Frida Kahlo ATCs (see my previous blog post), I didn´t know that Frida would be the theme for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge. Though I still had all my Frida related rubber stamps on my desk, I decided to make a digital card. Credits go to Itkupilli, Xquizart, Crafty Button Designs, KrystyScrap, Rucola, and Holliewood Studio.
