Flying on the wings of One World One Heart 2011

Today the One World One Heart event 2011 begins! By taking part in the last events, I´ve found so many new blogs and contacts that I´m happy to be able to join again.

If you´re new to my blog this year, be welcome to take a look around and maybe contact me. I´m not someone who likes to tell too many private things on the internet, but if you look at my art closely, you´ll get to know me quite well!

This year we´re all riding our birds to take a flight from blog to blog, so why don´t you jump on and join us? Just click on the logo to find a list of all partipants and have fun as well as the chance to win.

Photobucket

This year I have three different giveaways:

1. a set of two bird ATCs

2. a set of two Gothic Arches

3. a baggie of unmonted rubber stamps.

If you´re interested in one of them especially, just let me know in your comment.

All you have to do to win is to leave a comment to this blog post with a valid email address so that I´ll be able to contact you after I´ve drawn the three winners on February 17 when the event ends.

Visit to Berlin

I´ve had a fun and busy Sunday working through week 3 of Marie Otero´s online class about Digital Journaling. We´ve learned to manipulate photos in a variety of ways, especially by using different blending modes, shapes, and overlays. And we´ve learned to create a custom brush (the little foot on my sample page was hand drawn and saved to use as a brush).
I´ve chosen some old photos my sister made on our vacation in 2005 (thanks for the permission to use them, Sabine!) and had much fun playing with them. Unfortunately I´m not able to write nicely with the pencil tool (I´d need a tablet and pen for that purpose), so I´ve used a nice font for the text on each photo instead of handwritten journaling.

Collections

Seth of The Altered Page has posted chapter 5 of his Collectors Edition today, and you may have seen my first photo there: a folder filled with unmounted rubber stamps, one of six folders I have besides the drawers full of mounted ones.

The second photo swows some of my postage stamps showing heads that I like
to use for making postage people.
And my third large collection is all about vintage paper: I love foreign languages and types and especially maps, and of course I use all these in my artwork.

Home Sweet Home

... is this week´s theme for the SPA challenge. Stamps by Paperbag Studio and Darkroom Door.
And as this card is almost totally stamped and has a background made with Glimmer Mist ink, it also qualifies for this week´s Wednesday Stamper´s challenge themed "Inky Backgrounds".

Fly Away

This is my book cover for the Birds book made from a cereal box - if you´re interested in making your own, just follow Renee´s instructions here.

My Nature Collection

Here´s my Journal page that I´ve done after week two of Marie Otero´s online class about Digital journaling. I´ve used my own images here, some are self-made scans of things I have at home.
It´s incredible how much you can learn in an online class in a short time - can´t wait to learn even more! I´m so glad that I´ve won a place in that class via Carla´s blog!

CCC: Weathered Wood Grunge

I´ve made this card from grungepaper that was treated with Tim Holtz´ "Weathered Wood Grunge" technique, and it´s my entry for this week´s CCC challenge - have a look here to see all the other entries using this technique.

Tim Holtz Style ATCs

Usually I don´t like working in another artist´s style, but for one swap is was fun to use Tim Holtz´ stuff and techniques - though I wouldn´t say that these are really made in is style ...

This 3,5 x 5 " page is for a monthly Bird page swap - what a great idea for a swap! This month´s prompt was just "Bird".

My First Digital Journal Page

One of my new year´s resolutions was to learn how to use my Photoshop CS. Now I´m in the midst of an online class on Digital Journal Magic by Marie Otero, and this page is what I´ve learnt after the first of four weeks - I can´t believe it and can highly recommend her classes!

Steampunk Mona

Did you know that Mona was almost killed by boredom in her castle in Tuscany? Her personal painter Leonardo told her about machines that could fly or change the world as she knew it. So she decided to put her goggles on and prepare for her flight to far away countries.

This card is my entry for another irresistible SPA challenge: Altered Mona!
(The stamps that I´ve used here are from Lost Coast, Creavil, Scrollswork, and Oxford Impressions, and I love the Tim Holtz tissue tape everywhere in the background!)

Birds & Eggs

Three ATCs with a bird, an egg and the word "egg" somewhere? OF COURSE I had to join that swap!

CCC: Distress Misting Masks

I´ve been sick for the whole last week, so I´m late again with my entry for Linda´s Compendium of Curiosities Challenge No. 27. I have used Mustard Seed ink with Perfect Pearls in Green Patina, and Broken China ink with Blue Patina shimmer. The masks I´ve used are by Tattered Angels and Heidi Swapp, the stamp by Character Constructions.

Leave Your Cage Behind

I´ve made these two ATCs for a personal trade with someone whose work I only know from magazines - so I´m very excited and hope she´ll like them!

CCC: Rusted Grunge

Though Tim Holtz´ Rusted Grunge technique is one of my favourites from his book, I´m quite late posting my entry for this week´s CCC challenge - I´ve been ill since the last day of 2010 and am still feeling sick ...

The Inner Shrine

... is an early Valentine card made for Mary Green´s January challenge you can find here.
Is this guy really that naive to believe that his rose has opened her heart?

Steampunk Again!

My first swap for 2011 will be the ARTchix Steampunk ATC swap - and what a good opportunity to show how much better my new (Christmas gift) printer/scanner scans 3-D items!
For us Germans the new year has brought another wonderful gift by our mailing system: Shipping rates to the U. S. have been reduced remarkably as letters to foreign European countries and to the rest of the world aren´t differentiated any more. If you´re German and haven´t noticed the change yet, you can download the new rates here.
