Angels

Two ATCs with cemetary angels for Xela.

TMTA - Tags

My tag ATC for this week´s TMTA - or ist it TFTA?

Christmas in August

No, I´m not going nuts, it´s just time for another Letter X ATC - and the third is also ready - but I fear Y won´t be easier ...

Knock-knees

This ATC for a swap themed "The letter X" wouldn´t work in English because X-Beine are knock-knees in English. Have to come up with two more X-words now, sigh ...

Eclectic

This ATC does not only use Hermine´s background but also a lady freebie by Belinda - thanks, ladies!

Hermine´s Background Challenge

Hermine has made this background and asked people to use it - so here are two ATCs. The lady´s motto is from a poem by Rilke.

Crusade No. 11

Not my kind of music normally, but I just LOVE the poetic words so well illustrated by this video ... My entry for Michelle´s Crusade No. 11. The lyrics tell about a lonely little boy whose only friends are the stars he´s talking to; he´s thinking about what they mean, why they seam to be near but are out of reach at the same time, and so on.

No Solutions

This last 3 x 3 inches piece for the Vintage/Olden days swap is a bit 3-D, but my scanner managed it this time. Do YOU believe in sciences?

The French Captain

If you know this man, just ignore it, he has another personal story from now on: He´s a French captain missing since shipwrecked in 1849 ...

Trying hard

Normally I´m not much into brown-in-brown collages, but as the theme for these 3 x 3 inches collages is Vintage/Olden days it seems to be appropriate.

Dance

I´ve tried a new format tonight for another group I´ve joined, 3 x 3 inches. The theme for this swap is Vintage/Olden Days, and I just couldn´t resist. Love that format, so here´s the first of four collages.

Breakfast is ready

Seems that I can´t stop to make those 6 x 6 bird pages - this pair of cuckoos really fits to one of Linda´s book pages. Notice that the female´s name is Mathilde ...

TMTA - Lovers

"Lovers" is this week´s theme for TMTA - and as I´ve just received this book page from Linda today, I thought it would make a great background for my stamped couple in their honeymoon. Thanks, Linda, hope you like it!

Counting Crows

Do you remember the 4 x 4 inch page I´ve done for a Counting Crows book swap? Now here´s a complete set of ATCs with the same theme, six for the swap and the seventh for the hostess.

Bird Watching

A little box made from a chocolate box.

Gaga

I just couldn´t stop with those bird pages before I had used these words by John Ashbery: I immediately fell in love with his silencing rose and gaga flowers when I first read them.

Fragile

This page (about 6 x 6 inches) has been made just for fun after the book project has been finished. I´ve found the chicken today and couldn´t get it out of my head (of course it isn´t speckled, it´s just the mood my scanner is in when I feed him with magazine paper ...).

Just playing around ...

... tonight with some new stamps, pics and ephemera.

Found

This is an entry in a journal themed "Found". My pages started with the little green ticket on the right page which I found at Berlin, Alexanderplatz, on August 3rd, 2005. It´s a ticket for the Montreal transportation service. This led me to thoughts about Alfred Döblin´s great novel "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (1929) and his life, his exile in so many places (which I´ve listed on the left page), finding and losing your luck and searching for it all the time.

Döblin himself used collage techniques in his novel, blending in newspaper scraps, advertisements, and so on.

And I´ve found a friendship with the owner of the journal via internet in March 2006, but that´s another story and not illustrated here ...

Women

Two ATCs for a "Women" themed swap.

All together now

So here´s the whole bunch.

Nature Swap II

... two more ...

Nature Swap

Here are my first two ATCs for a Nature themed swap.

A Lover of Nature

This is an ATC sized Cabinet card.

Maps

Some ATCs for a swap themed "Maps". It´s a bit strange making ATCs again after all those book pages.

No Answer

Here´s the last (?) page: Another sad woman who needs to get some good advice, and singing without a reason maybe would be an answer to her questions!? The words are by Maya Angelou.

A Good Advice

Does anybody know the "They Might Be Giants" song "Birdhouse in your soul"? It´s on their 1990 album "Flood" and inspired me when I heard it again today. It has a very different atmosphere than my tenth Bird page, but isn´t it a good advice for this sad lady anyway?

Hope

No. 9 is about Hope, the words are by Emily Dickinson.

Faith

Book page No. 8 is about Faith, the words are by Tagore.

Early Bird

We have the same saying in German, but only the first part of it: "Früher Vogel fängt den Wurm" - I love the second!

Why?

The sixth page, words by Pablo Picasso.

Bird and Fish 2

O. k., I REALLY liked that book, so here´s a second version of the same quote ...

Where?

Have you read Richard Powers´ novel "The time of our singing"? Its about black and white people living together, and the key-note is: "The bird and the fish can fall in love. But where do they build their nest?"

The Cuckoo

My third Bird book collage using the words of a well known song.

Caged

The second page for the bird book came out quick - the words are by John Webster.

Bird page

This is the first of my pages for a book about birds and nests, 15 x 15 cm (about 6 inches). The words are by P. B. Shelley.

The Crow

The sixth Gothic page illustrates a text from Schubert´s "Winterreise" written by Wilhelm Müller. The story goes on: Well, it is not much farther / That I wander with my staff in hand. / Crow, let me see at last / A fidelity that lasts to the grave.

The Architect

Of course this man painted by Memling wasn´t an architect, but he is in this collage, proudly showing what mankind is able to create.

Rays of Light

... and the fourth.

Fear

... and here´s the third page ...

Two Gothic Pages

The first two pages for the Gothic Book, "The Raven" and "Boredom".

Buttons

This card for the Wednesday Stampers´ theme "Buttons" is quite traditional - it´s not one of my favourite themes normally, but I wanted to give it a try. And the Paperartsy Buttons stamp sent to me some time ago (thanks, Gisele!) fits perfectly here. The other stamps are Creavil and Inkadinkado and another one from Ebay again, don´t know the brand. The scan is bad because of the real buttons ...

A new challenge

Probably you all have seen the new weekly challenge blog TMTA!? This week´s theme is children, so here´s my ATC.

Gothic Deco Book Project

These are my covers for a Gothic Deco Book Project at Paper Traders. For me Gothic is architecture, Gothic type, height, light, blue as the sky and a bit purple for shades of mystery. I´m not sure if the covers are ready, but I think so - and I have to do six pages and six charms also, so I shouldn´t meditate on it too long ...
