"Whatnot No. 1" is the name of Tumble Fish Studio´s new kit at MischiefCircus.com. My two collages shown here were exclusively made with images from that kit. And do I have to mention that it´s also a great kit for your cut and paste art journaling? Just print out the collage sheets coming with the kit and give it a go.

This month´s theme for the Art Journal Journey challenge blog is "Birds, Beasts, and Humans", and you´ll be surprised to see that there´s NO bird on my journal spread, LOL! But what if ... one day you notice that your only friend is your cat? Maybe your cat will tell you that cats are people too. (And maybe I should tell you that I don´t have a cat but some friends :-))

Today, Marsha from Tumble Fish Studio came out with two new smaller kits and a freebie: Sweet Stuff, Confetti Overlays, and Birthday Candles freebie. I´ve used them all for this collage, plus a few images from Marsha´s older kits.

For A´ That / Trotz Alledem

When I first saw this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme "Robert Burns Night", I thought it would be a hard one, but then I thought of all those lovely Burns songs I´ve listened to at the age of 15-25 when I was a big fan of Scottish and Irish folk music ... (I still am, but I listen to a lot of other stuff nowadays).
So the difficulty was to decide which song to use - Auld Lang Syne? Ae Fond Kiss? John Barleycorn?
I decided to go with "For A´ That", one of my favourite political songs both in English and German:

"For a´ that, an´ a´ that,
It´s coming yet for a´ that,
That Man to Man, the world o´er
Shall brothers be for a´ that."

This song is about Scotland´s independance and also about the abolishment of slavery, it´s a song about freedom. If you´re German, you may know it as "Trotz alledem", a well-known song/poem written by Ferdinand Freiligrath after the failure of the 1848 revolution in Germany, based on Robert Burns´ famous song. Take a minute and listen to it here.
For my postcard, I´ve used stamps from MadRat, Enchanted Ink, Darkroom Door, MaVinci, Oxford Impressions, Art Impressions, and VivaLasVegas.

Discovery

For this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Quotes" I´ve used a quote from Albert Szent-Györgyi, a Hungarian scientist and Nobel prize winner (1893-1986). I think that it really fits the light bulb man stamp from Darkroom Door, and I also used rubber stamps from Scrollswork, Stamp Francisco and Stempelmine on a vibrant watercolour background made with Brushos.

With Valentine´s Day approaching, Marsha from Tumble Fish Studio just came out with a new image kit called "XOXO". My digital collage above shows how it can even be used to scrap your family photos (like this treasured photo of my grandparents).
The sample below was made with the collage sheets that come with the kit; I´ve made a cut and paste page in my Moleskine journal using these.
So whether you prefer digital art or cut and paste artwork, this kit is very versatile.

New

With this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challange theme "New" and a new challenge from Viva Las Vegas running for January that asks for "new beginnings, new growth, sturdy roots, patterns,circles, dots, music notes, numbers, weeds, nature, flora, sky, ground, beneath, above,blue, cerulean, tan, aged, heritage and more", I decided to start the new year with a new years card made with VLVS stamps - only one of the above stamps is from Red Lead, and the plastic numbers are from Tim Holtz. (Apparently, I used new beginnings, circles, numbers, sky, ground, blue, and tan.) Happy New Year to all my blog readers!

Invincible Summer

For this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge which is "Anything Goes" aka themeless, I´ve chosen some wintery but not christmassy stamps and a few not so cool colours to go with the Albert Camus quote I´ve picked - the watercolour paper was dyed with Brusho paints, all stamps are from Oxford Impressions, and finally I´ve used crystal and cranberry coloured stickles.

And the Angels Sing

This week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge is themed "Festive Songs", and for my postcard I´ve used a copy of "In Dulci Jubile" and rubber stamps from Cherry Pie, Hero Arts, Tin Can Mail and Oxford Impressions. I just love that Leonardo Angel and I´m glad to have him as a stamp.

Holiday Trims

Marsha from Tumble Fish Studio has come out with a new kit today called "Holiday Trims". You can easily make your Holiday greeting cards with it or scrap your family photos like I did in the picture below. And as always, all images come as collage sheets in addition to the png files so that you can also make beautiful cut and paste cards with them.

Quiet Beauty

With a calligraphy project on my kitchen table right now, I´m not able to do messy mixed media pieces right now, so my entry for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Winter" is a digital card. Can´t wait to play with paints and stamps again!

Winter Wishes

It´s really time for me to get my Holiday greetings in the mail soon, and if you need some inspiration for your handmade cards, you need it NOW, so here are my last Holiday cards for you. These have all been made with Red Lead stamps and collage images. The one above has some tags messily sewn to the card, then decorated with three brads and a painted wooden word piece with a bow.

The next card uses washi tape and tiny Scrabble tiles in addition to the stamp and image from Red Lead.
And the last card below has rubber stamps only, and only in two colours, but I really like the simplicity of this design.

More Holiday Cards

I know that some of you don´t like to start with their holiday projects before December 1 - but now the season officially started, and it´s time to make your holiday cards, so here are a few simple ones to inspire you!
The card above was made with papers from Tim Holtz, a sentiment stamp from Kaisercraft and a Santa hat brad.

This one has stamps from Hero Arts and Tim Holtz and a snowman brad (those black spots are only on my scanner´s glass).

These two cards were made with papers from La Blanche, Dresden scraps and sentiment stamps from Tim Holtz. The one above has additional stamps from Red Lead, the one below has two snowflake brads.

Greetings from Abroad

These ladies are sending you greetings and kisses from their journey to Italy, and they really look like they´re having fun on that trip! It´s my card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Greetings from Abroad", and I´ve used rubber stamps from A Capella, Oxford Impressions, Mirkwood, Crafty Individuals, Nick Bantock and Darkroom Door.

Ode to Shopping

Christmas is close, and with Black Friday next weekend, Marsha´s new Tumble Fish Studio kit "Ode to Shopping" is right in time ... I´ve made two digital collages this time, but you can also use the kit for your cut and paste artwork such as journal pages, because it comes with png images as well as collage sheets for printing.

Movember

Yes, it´s NMovember, so it´s time for Moustaches! As I think that this is an important theme, I´ve made two cards again for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge, one mixed media card and a digital one. For the stamped one above I´ve used a moustache button from Red Lead, isn´t it great? And for the digital card I´ve used images from Hidden Vintage Studios, Marta van Eck, Holliewood Studios and Tumble Fish Studio, all at Mischief Circus.
