Autumn Melancholy

Befiehl den letzten Früchten voll zu sein;

Rilke´s poem "Autumn Day" is one of the most beautiful German poems, I think. And it contains everything I´m thinking of when I think of Autumn. It means farewell, accomplishment, loneliness and contemplation. It has its own dark beauty but usually makes me sad.
When I was younger, autumn was my favourite season. Now I prefer spring with all its hope. And you?

My card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Autumn" was made using stamps from Carabelle, IndigoBlu and PaperArtsy.

Your work is gorgeous. That background looks like a fresco painting. You pose an interesting question. My answer is from a different perspective. It's always hotter than heck here in the Summer so when we get Fall weather we are all pretty overjoyed. So I think that's why I welcome Fall so much. But I can see changing favorites to Spring. The older I get the more I feel the rebirth effect. xox

Lovely artwork. Now that I'm older, Fall does hold a sadness for me. It foreshadows the end, that Winter is.
