When I first read this week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, I thought I might skip this one because I didn´t remember having some appropriate stamps and wouldn´t dare to draw a chandelier.
Then when I went through my stamps, I found two lovely chandeliers from Oxford Impressions and decided to combine them with a raven from these plates and a Poe stamp from Red Lead, some halloweeny watercolours and a few sprinkles of golden light.
Beware All Who Enter - my card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed Gargoyles features a gargoyle from Lost Coast Designs and additional stamps from Paper Artsy and Deep Red.
I´ve recently purchased these lovely Steampunk animals stamps, and a Steampunk swap going on in one of my groups was the perfect occasion to use them for the first time. I´ve had so much fun making these!
Stick a Gear on it and call it Steampunk!

If you know me a bit, you also know that crows are my favourite birds and probably my favourite animals. So for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed Crows and Ravens I couldn´t resist making two different cards.
The first one features my all time favourite crow stamps from Meer Image plus a quote from Stampotique, the second one shows another quote from that Stampotique set with a crow from Carabelle Studio and a heart from Dina Wakley, the Raven poem background text is from HeroArts.
This week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Trees. My card features a quote from Candy Polgar:
Alone with myself
the trees bend to caress me
the shade hugs my heart.
Do YOU like to sing on a stage or do you prefer singing when nobody can hear you? I´m definitely in the second group. Probably the secret is to sing like no one´s listening, no matter if you´re really alone.
For my sample card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge I´ve chosen a stamp showing the wonderful Billie Holiday (1915-1959). You might know her by the name "Lady Day" that Lester Young gave her. Though she also was known for wearing a white gardenia in her hair, I´ve made her flower red as I gave her my own red dress.
I can´t wait to see your interpretations of this theme!

For this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme "Steampunk Animals" I went with a simple design to let the lightbulb fly and the text stand for themselves.
Do you know Dire Straits`"Calling Elvis" from 1991? It´s just one tribute to Elvis among lots of them. Another celebration is U2´s visit to Graceland in their film "Rattle and Hum". Elvis Presley (1935-1977) is also known as "The King" and has been one of the most important rock singers of all times, but as I´m a late boomer and he wasn´t really hot when I was young, he has never been right in my focus. Of course I understood that his voice was extraordinary and expressive, and that fact asked for my respect, I just wasn´t a fan.
But of course I´ve had some favourite songs from him, like "In the ghetto". I´ve also read a good quote from him "It ain´t a song until you sing it" (1956) that I really like.
Last week I´ve seen a documentation about seduction on ARTE, and of course there was a short passage about Elvis who brought black music to the masses very early and was hated for this, but it´s something very important for his time, and his anti-racist attitude is something that makes him much more interesting in my eyes.
I think it´s impossible to not like or dislike him, whatever you want. What is YOUR personal Elvis story?

Of course I couldn´t resist this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Bird People"! Maybe you remember my own Bird People blog swap back in 2014!? If not, you´ll find my posts here, and if you follow the links, you´ll find the entries of all participants, too.
For this month´s Visible Image ATC swap themed "Pretty Pastels" I´ve made two variations with the same stamp set. The card above came out better, I think, but of course the ATC below is what it was all about. However, my swap partner in Switzerland loved them both, so I´m happy. But making these in a pastel colour scheme has been a challenge for me as I´m a dedicated lover of bold colours ...
My card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Spectacles/Goggles" has a focus on looking deeper than usual. I´ve combined stamps from Art Journey, Visible Image and Graphic 45/Hampton Art for this card.
We all watch Youtube videos and other lessons by professional art teachers nowadays. But what makes a teacher a GOOD teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher makes you want to fetch your pencil and paints after a few minutes while watching the video. For me, Toni Burt is a master doing this - I´m not able to watch one of her videos without grabbing my pencil and watercolours and follow her instructions. I especially love that my results always look like my own designs and not hers. I´d call this a teacher´s super power.
This set of Nick Bantock inspired ATCs for a swap was made using collage and rubber stamping.

My ATC and card for this month´s Visible Image ATC swap themed "How does your garden grow?" arrived safely in the UK this week.

I´ve used magazine scraps, torn into triangle shapes, gessoed, watercoloured, and stamped with a stamp from Cavallini.
Castles is this week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge. What about building a castle in the air from time to time? It may not solve any problems, but maybe it helps to get some new ideas and escape just for a moment, long enough maybe to take a breath and get back to a base from which you´ll find a solution.
I´m hosting this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge with the theme "Kings". On my sample card, you´ll recognize a real king as he´s Frederick the Great, King of Prussia (1712-1786, King since 1772), only having a new body, life and crown.

When I was in Berlin last week, I´ve found a batch of postage stamps featuring dogs on a fleamarket. Well, give me some postage characters, and I´ll make postage people ... eeeh, or dogs ... with them.
So here are my first postage dogs, and I´ve had so much fun making them!

I´ve had prepared a background and added a postage person a few days ago but didn´t know which text I should add or which other elements. Then last week I had to deal with a drama queen in real life, and it wasn´t fun, and the problem isn´t solved yet. So my decision to use this Drama King text helped me to deal with this - at least it´s my way of taking the challenge.
In my personal case, I had to deal with a drama queen, but as we´ve celebrated International Women´s Day yesterday, I´ve made a Drama King as probably men are also able to play this game.
Flora and Fauna was the theme for this month´s Visible Image ATC swap. I´m longing for colours, flowers and warmer temperatures, so here´s my ATC for Rachel in the UK and the coordinating card.

For a hobby themed ATC swap I went with knitting, photography and crafting/painting this time - I could have made more about reading, cooking and riding my bike, but there aren´t enough participants in that swap, and I thought this looked like a great trio.
The background for this card was made with Artgraf watersoluble crayons, and this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme "Scribble" came handy to make something with it ... so I added a few stamps from Dina Wakley and here´s the result.
This month´s theme for the Visible Image ATC swap is "All You Need Is Love", and I´m glad that we didn´t have to make a Valentines card ... Instead, I made an ATC about loving yourself and a card to send it to Manchester about having an uplifting phone call from whoever loves you.
No, she didn´t say "Let them eat cake", but she didn´t understand the signs of the upcoming future, and the result was "Off with her head". Marie Antoinette is this week´s theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge. Do people learn from history? Hmmmm .... I´m really worried when I read that young people question democracy - WHAT??? What is the future they wish for?? Maybe it´s a good thing to be old as I hopefully won´t be alive when these people take over ...
For this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge, I´ve chosen "Distance" as my theme. Maybe you remember a card of mine that I´ve made for an SPA challenge themed Numbers in 2020 and that illustrated the situation we´ve all been in back then - Corona. I had called this card Distance, and in 2024 I felt the need to make another card illustrating Distance that has nothing to do with that crisis that I hope wé´ve let behind us. So, in 2024 thinking of Distance shouldn´t make us think of social distance anymore but of distant places, distant friends, and maybe walls and borders we want to overcome.
It´s such a pity that scans don´t show shimmer and shine! My card for this week´s Sunday Postcard Art challenge themed "Rise and Shine" was made using Mica sprays and shimmering watercolours, and both don´t show on this scan, sorry ... I´ve used stamps from Visible Image and Dina Wakley here that went together well.
In Germany, we don´t have many colourful birds. I wish we had bluebirds, blue jays, cardinals, and all those colourful birds you have in the U. S., but I really love those that we have here and treasure them ...
